THe J. L. Collins Learning Center
On Friday May 8, 2015 Campbell County Board of Education held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the J.L Collins Learning Academy. The school is being named after long time board member J.L. Collins (Sarge). Sarge will have been a school board member for 15 years this September. Sarge would like to,” thank the board for allowing us to have this wonderful facility”. This has been a long time dream of the 5th district school board member. “The need has always been there for us, and I am happy to finally see it realized”, says Collins. The school is on Jellico High School campus and houses students from the 5th district in grades 7-12 that are struggling in the regular classroom environment. The addition can house up to 26 students. There are currently 7 students attending the J.L. Collins Learning Academy. The teachers and students are very pleased to be in their new surroundings. This facility will be beneficial to all schools in the 5th district.
